MALLORCA SEAFRONT

Balearic Islands, SPAIN
Honourable Mention International Competition.
Project year 2012
The boardwalk is understood as an intermediate space that permeates the transition between the sea and the city, and not as a boundary-edge. The transition between the seafront and the beach is made from soft by the mimesis of the contour of the sea and the ways of traditional round limit, adopting a rich path generated from the geometry obtained by the recovery of pre dunes existing. Getting a dynamic space that allows the ride and look out over the sea, which in turn organizes different areas of contemplation. The transition between the waterfront and the urban fabric is made by large open spaces, eliminating cleft spaces (streets), and thus incorporate the ground floors of hotels. Historic roads and civic roads, where a change in level down to the beach are maintained only. The rest is done with ways and understanding that this transition is made by the mass of the beach itself.
All these transitions are reinforced with finding integrating outdoor spaces of hotels. This integration is based fundamentally on the activities carried downstairs. This is done through the addition of new “perennial” uses which pose a tourist resort as we know to value with identity and tradition of the place. Above all, this ride is willing to return and rediscover this forgotten tip N’Amer Mediterranean nature and landscape to the citizens and visitors of the site
